Community Education
We play an active role educating the community.

Overview
Sharing knowledge of our bushland
We love to extend and share our knowledge of the bushland through our community education activities. Our aim is to increase community awareness of the value of Jirdarup Bushland Precinct, including its Indigenous heritage.
Our activities include:
- Conducting events
- Producing resources
- Participating in community activities
Events include regular “Walks with Friends” as well as specific events for both volunteers and the broader community. These are advertised on our Facebook site and under news and events.
Our volunteers are happy to organise walks for interest groups.
Follow us on Facebook or keep an eye on our website to find out about upcoming events and what’s happening.
What's Happening
In partnership with our sponsors, we have been able to produce a range of resources that help people understand and appreciate the heritage of Jirdarup and its native flora, fauna and fungi. We welcome ideas from the community. Some of our publications are available for purchase at our online store or by contacting us. Others are available free of charge. We are particularly proud of our two books, Jirdarup Bushland and the Friends who care for it (2023) and Birds of Jirdarup: your garden can help them thrive (2024).
We also share information about current and past research in the Precinct and provide links to resources to inspire children.
Through participation in community activities, we aim to strengthen partnerships and spread the word about Jirdarup. Our band of volunteers are always happy to visit other community groups to share our enthusiasm for the conservation and restoration of this beautiful bushland. Contact us to arrange a visit.
Our Nature Photography project in 2020 and 2021 was a major initiative that brought the beauty of the bushland to the community resulting in a major increase in awareness of Jirdarup.
