Nature Photography

Nature photography competitions in 2020 and 2021 brought an influx of photographers to Jirdarup. They continue to visit regularly and share many of their photographs.

As a means of promoting the Bushland, in 2020 and again in 2021, the Friends coordinated an ambitious nature photography competition, ‘Images of Jirdarup’. The competition coincided with the COVID19 pandemic which saw an upsurge of interest in public open spaces, including urban bushland. Images of Jirdarup drew hundreds of entries which were judged by an expert panel that included internationally renowned photographer Georgina Steytler.

This has led to increasing numbers of photographers visiting Jirdarup and sharing their photographs.  To share photographs with us and our social media followers, please send them to admin@friendsofjirdarupbushland.or.au. All photographers are acknowledged and if we wish to use your photographs in publications beyond our social media, we will seek your permission.

With the valued support from many local sponsors and the Town, each year an exhibition of 60 shortlisted photos was displayed at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts and a special Awards Night held to announce the prize winners.
