Jirdarup Bushland

and the Friends who care for it

The wait is over to get your hands on our eagerly awaited book. Covering the flora, fauna and friends, of Jirdarup Bushland, you will find in it a walk through the history of this precious natural reserve.

This delightful 84-page book contains over 75 photographs of the flora and fauna of the Jirdarup Bushland Precinct in inner-city Perth in Western Australia. It pays tribute to the traditional owners and tells the story of development since 1901 as well as more recent progress toward conservation and restoration. It includes maps and historical records that illustrate the changing times and attitudes of the community and local authorities to the bushland.

“The stories and photographs are a wonderful resource for families.” Hannah Beazley MLA, Member for Victoria Park

“Jirdarup is the most pristine and highest quality Banksia woodland remaining in inner Perth. To know we have such a remarkable relic of the past in such extraordinary condition is a compliment to all who have been involved.” Distinguished Professor Kingsley Dixon AO, Curtin University and Chair International Society for Ecological Restoration

“This book not only covers the history of this special place called Jirdarup but reminds us of the contribution of so many unsung heroes.”Kim Sarti OAM
