Georgina Wilson – Photographer

Georgina has been taking photos in Jirdarup since 2020.

Georgina lives close to Jirdarup, about 2km away in Como. Ironically, she worked across the road for more than 20 years but never explored the bushland. She has been photographing in Jirdarup since 2020.

Birds are a favourite subject and Georgina likes to capture them in one of the three F action modes—feeding, fighting or f**king. But mostly it is the first.

Her current favourite camera is a Canon R5 with a 100–500mm lens to get good reach. She edits the images in Adobe Lightroom.

Georgina’s photography has been widely recognised:

  • 2019 to 2024 Images used in annual Friends of Kings Park calendars
  • 2021 Finalist in Images of Jirdarup competition
  • 2022 Image of Jirdarup bird water used in Karakin calendar
  • 2023 Runner-up in Golden Lens Flora and Fauna competition
  • 2023 and 2024 Images used in BirdLife WA calendar
  • 2023 Top 10 in Flowers in Focus, Kings Park Festival.

See Georgina’s Facebook page for lots of great images.

Georgina has nominated her January 2024 photo of Rainbow Bee-eaters as her favourite Jirdarup photo.
