Weeds are one of the biggest threats to urban bushland, disturbing natural ecosystems and threatening biodiversity by competing with native species, changing soil conditions and increasing fuel load.
Common weeds that are targeted in the weeding program include:
- Perennial veldt grass
- Annual veldt grass
- Common sow thistle
- Geranium
- Common groundsel
- Ursinia
- Fumaria
- Storksbill
- Pink Gladiolus

The table below is a compilation of weeds identified in the Kensington Bushland. Additional weed species are present in the Kent Street Sandpit and the George St Reserve.
