Visions for 2049

Guests at the 25th anniversary of the Friends of Jirdarup Bushland on 1 December 2024 were asked to leave their vision for the next 25 years.

  • 25 years of conservation and restoration – in 25 years I cannot wait to see that this bushland has grown, the birdlife is thriving and it remains the environmental crown of our wonderful Vic Park community.  Hannah Beazley MLA, Member for Victoria Park
  • Jirdarup Bushland finally in 2049 not just an island of trees in suburbia but instead a vital part of biodiversity corridors that connect through and beyond the Town of Vic Park to Canning, South Perth and beyond. Cr Peter Devereux
  • Wonderful place, great memories. Looking forward to many more.  Margaret Bell
  • Hoping to see the good work continue.
  • Congratulations on 25 years. May there be many more.  Councillor, City of South Perth
  • For the bushland to continue to thrive and be a have for native flora and fauna.
  • A bushland oasis from the city where the whole community enjoy the wonders of nature.
  • To continue to be a haven for wildlife, a safe place for the rainbow bee-eaters, and a special place to visit. Liz S
  • An urban retreat ideal for my 100th. Lesley v S
  • Keep up the good work.
  • Bushland Forever and contamination free – a thriving community and environment for people and wildlife. Kerry Preston

  • We hope the aims of FoJB are embodied in perpetuity. Elbia and Don
  • The splendid wren is as close as Canning River Reserve. It would be remarkable if we could entice this wonderful bird into Jirdarup.  Creating an environment in which it could survive and breed would be a great challenge.
  • Thanks to the founders for their foresight and hard work over the years. Peter Batty “up the street.”
  • No more Veldt grass.  Wendy P
  • It would be wonderful to see the reclamation in its completeness and that it is integrated into the bushland area. The community will be able to enjoy it forever.  James Schlipalius.
  • Restoration, conservation and preservation of the Banksia Woodland right in the middle of suburbia in cooperation with local government. And a political environment that supports volunteer environmental groups by reducing red tape to take administrative burdens off.  Klaus Backheuer, former chair FoJB
  • Still here and growing to include the sandpit and Dept of Ag site, still thriving and social housing. Ted Prendergast
  • It would be fab to see Mum’s hopes and vision come to life. The documentation of the flora and fauna, the sandpit project revegetated and thriving, becoming a cooling sanctuary in an urban landscape.  Zero gladdies, no freesias, no weeds, orchids with space to thrive!! Enjoyed and appreciated by the community and beyond.  Megan Schlipalius.
