The Friends of Kensington Bushland was formed in December 1999 and rebranded as the Friends of Jirdarup Bushland in 2020. The group was led by the late Gwynth Schlipalius with support of local Councilor and environmentalist Cathy Taylor.
Christmas morning tea was among one of Gwynth’s many unique contributions to building community.
On 1 December 2024, we will celebrate 25 years of advocating and caring for this unique bushland. At the same time, it is fitting to commemorate the work of both Gwythn and her late husband Daryl whose enthusiasm and commitment is remembered by many.
Their children, Megan, Chris and James will join us and Fiona’s Homestyle Cooking has offered to contribute to morning tea.
We anticipate an early start, depending on the weather, and will provide more details in due course. Our concept is simply this, let’s do it the way Gwynth did: bring your chair, your hat, and a little something to share, and enjoy a morning tea with friends in Jirdarup. Bring your cup, we will rustle up some tea and coffee. No doubt many will also want to walk and enjoy the December bushland.
Updated details will be on our website, Facebook and the noticeboards in the bushland.
